A person infected with Hepatitis C will have Hepatitis C antibodies in their blood. These are proteins produced by the body in response to a Hepatitis C infection. The test cassette operates on the principle of a membrane strip pre-coated with recombinant capture proteins sensitive to Hepatitis C Virus antibodies in the test line. The HCV antigen colloidal gold conjugate, along with the specimen, migrates chromatographically along the membrane to the test region. This interaction forms a visible line as an antigen-antibody particle complex, enabling a rapid, noninvasive test with flawless sensitivity and exceptional specificity*.
